Privacy Policy

Who is responsible for your data

Mauricio Zúñiga Cuéllar, NIT 94.060.281-1, Calle 3D # 66 - 47, Cali, Colombia. Contact: loresafe@kaistrategylab.com.

Your Cuenta Kai (family identity)

Sign-up and sign-in for Kai LoreSafe are operated by Cuenta Kai (id.kaistrategylab.com), the identity service of the Kai family, under the same ownership, not an unrelated third party. When you sign in, Cuenta Kai confirms to us your identifier, email, name, language and whether your email is verified; none of your reading content in LoreSafe travels to Cuenta Kai. Your password lives there (as an irreversible hash), and it is changed and recovered there. Its terms: id.kaistrategylab.com/legal/privacidad.

The most important thing: your page photos and audio are not stored

When you photograph a page or dictate by voice, that file is processed in real time solely to interpret your position, character or note, and it is NOT stored on our servers. The only thing saved is the text result (the declared position, the character sheet, the transcribed note).

The one exception is the cover photo: if the book does not appear in the cover-search services and you choose to photograph it, that image is stored. It is the cover you will see in your library. It is hosted on Cloudflare R2 under a random name and remains reachable at a public address: it is not listed anywhere, but anyone with the link can open it.

Account holders' data

When you register we process: name and email (your password lives in your Cuenta Kai, not here); optionally country and year of birth. As you use the service, your reading content is saved: books, sagas, positions, characters, notes and theories, which is private and not shared with other users (there are no social features). Purpose: to provide the service, personalize your answers, offer support and communicate relevant changes; and, if you expressly authorize it when you sign up, to send you news and commercial communications.

Providers and international transfers

To operate, we use providers that process data on our behalf and may be located outside Colombia: OpenAI (processing the text of your questions and notes, and of the real-time photos/audio, to generate your answers), infrastructure providers (server hosting), Cloudflare R2 (storage of the cover photos you upload) and cover-search services (Google Books/OpenLibrary, they only receive the title you search for). We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties for advertising purposes.

Payments

Payments are processed by the external gateway dLocal Go, a product of the company dLocal: when you buy, we take you to its payment page and you return to the app when you are done. You enter your card or payment method details there directly; they do not pass through Kai LoreSafe, we do not see them, and we do not store them.

To create a charge we send the gateway the amount, the currency, an internal order reference and the description of what you are buying; we do not send it your name or your email. Back from it we receive the payment identifier, its status, the amount and our reference, which is what we use to credit what you bought. The gateway processes that data under its own terms and may be located outside Colombia.

Sending emails

Kai LoreSafe no longer sends emails of its own: the only one there was (the password recovery email) is now sent by Cuenta Kai, which is where your password is kept and reset. Your library, your notes and your conversations with Kai do not go out to any email provider.

If you tick the news box when you sign up, we also use your email address and your name to send you commercial communications about Kai LoreSafe and the other Kai tools. That sending is operated by Kai News, a tool belonging to the same owner as this policy: your email address, your name and your language travel there so that we can write to you. The box arrives unticked and we store the date and time when you ticked it, which is the proof of your authorization. You can unsubscribe whenever you want from the link carried by every email, without writing to us and without your account losing anything.

Cookies

We use a single first-party cookie, strictly necessary, to keep your session signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Your rights (Habeas Data)

You can access, update, rectify and delete your data, and revoke your authorization, by writing to loresafe@kaistrategylab.com from your account email. Deleting a book cascades to delete its characters, positions and notes; deleting the account removes its operational data, except for records that the law requires us to keep (for example, billing documentation).

You can also ask us for proof of the authorization you gave us when you signed up, and file a complaint with Colombia's Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC) if you believe we have failed to comply with the habeas data law. Write to us first: almost everything gets resolved there, and the law also asks you to exhaust that claim with us before going to the SIC (art. 16 of Law 1581). It is not a condition we impose: it is the step the SIC expects to find already taken.

By writing to loresafe@kaistrategylab.com from your account email, you can ask us to tell you what use we have made of your data, and access it by asking us for a copy. We do not charge for handling these requests.

Security

We apply reasonable measures: encryption in transit (TLS), sign-in through your Kai Account (this service does not store your password), per-account isolation, backups of operational data and server access controls.

Governing law

This policy is governed by Law 1581 of 2012 and other Colombian personal data protection regulations.
